IV INTERNATIONAL COURSE IN ORCHESTRA CONDUCTING
"CITY OF ROME"
In Collaboration with the
SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA CITY OF ROME
The course taught by M° ENNIO NICOTRA, foresees two distinct groups of students, in Palermo and Milan. and is aimed at all those young conductors and musicians in general who wish to develop and refine their conducting technique.
The course teaches practical and theoretical competencies that are not given by the traditional courses. The study program is in fact based on the “Musin system”: Maestro Nicotra was student and assistant of Ilya Musin – legendary Russian teacher (1904-1999) – who developed a unique didactical method, that many consider the equivalent of the Stanislavskij method for acting technique studies.
Classes make focus on the analysis and the improvement of the conducting techniques, through an exercise with a piano duo; the semantics of the gesture, the communicational aspects and the interaction with the ensemble will be analyzed.
The repertoire is individual. It is agreed with Maestro Nicotra based on the level of the student.
The course is carried out in 8 meetings: the first 7 are organized in 21 individual lessons, each one lasting 35/40 minutes (3 days a month), according to the following schedule. In the Palermo group the three lessons will be divided between Saturday and Sunday In the event of force majeure that prevents the meetings from taking place, they will be made up on new dates.
